Rackyuk is a landscape and timelapse photography project documenting Scotland’s outdoors through the seasons — from midwinter blue-hour light on the Cairngorm plateau to high-summer nights on the west coast that barely get dark at all.
Most of the work here starts long before sunrise: hiking in under headtorch, setting up while it’s still too dark to see the horizon, and waiting — sometimes for hours, sometimes for nothing — for the light to do something worth pointing a camera at.
Equipment & approach
Timelapse sequences are shot on a mix of mirrorless bodies and motion-control sliders, intervals tuned to the pace of what’s moving — cloud, tide, or stars. Stills are shot RAW and graded to keep things close to what was actually standing there in the cold, rather than pushed toward anything too far from real.
